About Our Founder

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Osjetta Gascey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications from Texas Southern University. She’s worked in the field of public relations, marketing and donor relations for over 20 years with a concentration in the health-care and non profit sector. She’s a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

From early in her youth, mentorship was important. She participated in the Ladies of Distinction program in high school. In college, as the president of the Association of Black Journalists in the School of Communications at TSU, Osjetta created the first mentorship program. The students were paired with local communication professionals and journalists and later launched the Mentorship Breakfast.

Osjetta has mentored young adults and early year professionals helping guide them through coaching or by providing resources to help them match their interests, educational and career endeavors.

“I believe in helping young adults align their passion with careers that they love and enjoy. The Charme Charitable Foundation’s focus is offering all those resources via workshops at no cost to local youth and their families in the Houston and surrounding areas.”

“I’ve talked to a lot of youth and young adults and most have big dreams. Some just don’t know how to connect the dots. I’ve always had a passion for listening to someone’s passion and guiding them down the path to get the knowledge and resources they need to put those passions into action.”

— Osjetta, Founder of The Charme Charitable Foundation

Many times, young adults don’t have a path forward because they don’t have resources or tools to help them understand and see all the possibilities.

The Charme Charitable Foundation is hoping to close some of that gap.
